The end of a year

2009 was a truly great year for WordPress. It continuously moving to the “right” direction, of becoming a complete publishing tool. Of course the use of this platform in a free blogging website such as wordpress.com helps it to become well known to all types of internet users. So having this in mind we, at makeuproud, are trying to create something that we believe is kinda unique.

The plan

Let me explain what i have in mind. There are a lot of websites dedicated to wordpress. Websites that publish lists, themes, thoughts. There are a lot of valuable stuff out there. But someone must follow a huge list of websites in order to learn everything. I believe that there is a need for a website that gathers everything, from new themes and plugins to news, articles, opinions, code snippets, videos, screencasts, wordpcamps etc.

Of course this role must be played by a more “official” website like wordpress.org, but as long as this is not happening (and i don’t know if the guys at Automatic are having this in mind) i decided that makeuproud must create a website that does what others don’t. Become the website that every wordpressographer will visit to learn the latest “everything” about his beloved platform.

We know that we’re talking about a HUGE website. We love creating stuff like that! So our first step was to launch a very first version of this, just to start realize which is the best way to organize stuff, prioritize them and present them to the public. For the last one and a half month of having this website live, we learned a lot on how to accomplish our goal.

So next step!

We will tweak the layout in a way that will be ready to display a lot more information and start updating the website in an everyday basis. After finalizing the layout we will open the website to everyone who wants to become part of the project, by contributing content and place his own ads next to his article
